Issues on user acceptance and experience in smart interoperability environments

The writers studied early user acceptance and experience issues related to smart environments based on interoperability. They present the results of the user study and discuss issues that seem to affect the user experience and acceptance of smart environments utilizing interoperability. Especially, elements related to proactiveness of technology, namely agency, autonomy and monitoring, appear to be critical in considering future adoption of new services. They also discuss methodological concerns in regards to suitability of the selected scenario method, the maturity of technology as well as reliability of the results.
